Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus – It is the UNESCO world heritage site and the headquarters of Central Railways as well. Being the oldest stations of all, its architecture will give you a glimpse of the Victorian style. It was built in 1887 in the memories of Queen Victoria. Today it is more popularly known as CSTM. Initially, the area was meant for string sacks but today it is the busiest station of Mumbai and many trains originate from here.
Elephanta Caves – It is one of the most visited places of all. There are three caves in all, one is the Hindu cave while the other two are Buddhist caves. The Hindu cave has the idol of Lord Shiva and was built in the 5th century. Among the many caves that you will find here, the Cave One is must explore. It is 39 meters long and is somewhat similar to Dumar Lenal cave.
Kanheri Caves – Then you have the Kanheri Caves which is made of rock and is more of a Buddhist influence one. It was built between the 1st and the 10th century and a place where monks live. It was sometime back that it was transformed into monasteries and is now a famous attraction of the Mumbai city. There are lots of paintings and sculptures that you will find in the cave.
